HUTCHINSON -- Junior Pat LeVasseur, a three-time Class AA individual state tournament participant from BOLD/Buffalo Lake-Hector, has transferred to Hutchinson to close out his high school career. LeVasseur enrolled in classes at Hutchinson on March 14, 1½ weeks after the state tournament in which he finished sixth in the 125-pound weight class. LeVasseur was at BOLD at the beginning of the school year after attending Buffalo Lake-Hector from grades 7-10. Since BOLD and Buffalo Lake-Hector are a co-op, LeVasseur wasn't penalized for switching school districts.

MINNEAPOLIS - Hancock bolted to a 7-0 lead and never looked back en route to whipping Chisholm Wednesday night in the quarterfinals of the Class A State Tournament at the Sports Pavilion on the University of Minnesota campus. As advertised, both squads ran a fast-paced offense, but it was the Owls' defense that stymied Chisholm in the end. As Hancock (25-3) padded its lead throughout the game, the Bluestreaks were getting frustrated with the Owls in their face whenever it had the ball. Hancock, which will face top-ranked Ada-Borup (29-1) in Friday's semifinals at 2 p.m.
WILLMAR -- For the last three years the Milroy amateur baseball team didn't have a league to call home. Suddenly, two leagues were willing to house the Yankees. After the dust settled, Milroy chose the Cornbelt League over the Land O'Ducks League. The Yankees were first admitted to the Land O'Ducks League on Feb. 10, but they patiently waited to see if the Cornbelt League would finally welcome them in. After being turned down in 2006, the Yankees were voted in the Cornbelt League on Feb.
GLENWOOD -- The high-scoring Hancock trio of senior guard Tara Thielke, junior guard Jenny Noordmans and freshman guard Bree Holleman haven't disappointed fans in the Owls' postseason run. The seventh-ranked Owls (23-3) will look for that trend to continue today as they take on Battle Lake (20-6) at 7 p.m.
MARSHALL -- By winning seven straight games the Lac qui Parle Valley girls basketball team is in unknown territory.
