The Brainerd School Board has offered its superintendent position to Brainerd Assistant Superintendent Steve Razidlo, according to a district spokesperson. Waconia Superintendent Jerry Kjergaard was the other finalist considered at Thursday's meeting. The Brainerd board met at 12:30 p.m. Thursday and unanimously voted to offer the district's superintendent position to Razidlo. Kjergaard, one of three finalists in the second round of interviews, is in Willmar today. He will tour the district Thursday. He will meet at 2:30 p.m.
WILLMAR -- Willmar superintendent candidate Jerry Kjergaard has made the final two list in the Brainerd School District's search for its next superintendent. Waconia Superintendent Kjergaard and Brainerd Assistant Superintendent Steve Razidlo were named the two finalists Saturday by the Brainerd School Board. One of three finalists returning for a second interview for the Willmar superintendent position is a finalist scheduled to interview for a second time for the superintendent position with the Brainerd School District. Dr. Jerry Kjergaard of Waconia is a finalist for the Brainerd superintendent position and is currently in Brainerd.

The public meeting of the Willmar Design Center scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday night at Bethel Lutheran Church has been cancelled. The meeting will be re-scheduled at a later date. This public meeting was to see a presentation on market street ideas and to solicit public input on a convertible street concept for Becker Avenue.
Fire and rescue personnel responded to a fire shortly after 10 a.m. Friday in a downtown Willmar building. Smoke could be viewed coming out of the upstairs apartment area of 402 Litchfield Avenue Southwest. The 400 block of Litchfield Avenue has been blocked off and one block northward toward the Kandiyohi County Building. One person has been removed from the scene by an ambulance. Fire departments from Willmar, Spicer, Pennock, Kandiyohi and Benson responded to the scene. Further updates will be posted on West Central Tribune Online www.wctrib.com .
Thunderstorms with heavy rainfall, large hail and strong winds swept through west central Minnesota mid-day Thursday. A tornado warning has been extended until 5 p.m. for Meeker County. The tornado warning for Kandiyohi County has expired. Much of central Minnesota remains under a tornado watch until early evening. Tornado warnings had been issued throughout the afternoon in Chippewa, Renville, Kandiyohi and Meeker counties in west central Minnesota. Those warnings have all expired. The storm track through southern Kandiyohi County created concerns in some school districts.
EDEN VALLEY - Three men were cited for disorderly conduct following an early morning fight Thursday in an Eden Valley alley, according to the Meeker County Sheriff's Department. The Meeker County Sheriff's Department assisted the Eden Valley Police Department in a call at 1:06 a.m. Thursday to a reported fight in an alley behind Tom's Carpet Kingdom in Eden Valley. Charles Gregory Haag, 27, and Jayson Ray Hamilton, 22, both of Eden Valley, were cited for disorderly conduct.
