MADISON -- Myrle Evelyn Farmer, 95, of Madison, died Monday at the Madison Lutheran Home. The service will be at 10 a.m. on Friday at the Madison Lutheran Home Chapel. Visitation will be Thursday afternoon, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at the Zahrbock Funeral Chapel in Madison. She was born July 29, 1913, in Madison to Evert and Gertrude (Twist) Powelson. She attended country school at District 96 and graduated from Marietta High School in 1931. She married Robert Farmer on Sept. 17, 1933. They farmed and raised their family until they retired in 1979 and moved to Marietta.
GRANITE FALLS -- Anna Sophia Vechell, 96, of Granite Falls, died Sunday at the Granite Falls Hospital. The service will be at 11 a.m. on Friday at the Assembly of God Church in Granite Falls. Burial will be at Hutchinson City Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are with the Wing-Bain Funeral Home in Granite Falls. Memorials are preferred to the Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation. She was born Nov. 30, 1911, to Adolph and Sina (Olson) Benson in Twin Valley.
SARTELL -- Astor Leroy Underthun, 92, of Sartell, formerly of Willmar, died Tuesday at the St. Cloud Hospital. The service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Vinje Lutheran Church in Willmar. Burial will be at Mandt Lutheran Cemetery in rural Montevideo. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar and will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church. He was born Oct. 4, 1915, in Big Bend Township, Chippewa County, to Lars and Mabel (Larson) Underthun.
PAYNESVILLE -- Donald Jerome Nepsund, 78, of Paynesville, died Monday at the Paynesville Area Hospital. The service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Paynesville Lutheran Church. Military honors will be provided by the Paynesville American Legion Post 271. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Paynesville Lutheran Church and continue one hour prior to the service. The Johnson Funeral Home in Paynesville is handling arrangements. He was born Dec. 23, 1929, in Kandiyohi County to Alexander and Elise (Hanson) Nepsund. He graduated from Paynesville High School.
LONG PRAIRIE -- Janet G. Kortuem, 61, of Long Prairie died Monday at her daughter's home. The service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at St. Mary of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Long Prairie. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery at Clotho. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Williams Dingmann Stein Chapel in Long Prairie with prayers by St. Mary's Catholic Women at 3 p.m. and parish prayers at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue from 9 to 11 a.m.

LAKE LILLIAN -- Vangie Helin, 88, of Bird Island, formerly of Lake Lillian, died Monday at Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia. The service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at United Lutheran Church in Lake Lillian with burial in the Community Cemetery in Lake Lillian. Visitation will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the K-M Funeral Home in Lake Lillian and for one hour prior to the service at the church. She was born Sept. 25, 1919, in Osceola Township, rural Bird Island, to Henry and Anna (Rudeen) Thode.
WILLMAR -- Shirley Sawyer, 87, of Willmar died Wednesday at Dassel Lakeview Ranch in Dassel. The service will be at 1 p.m. Monday at United Methodist Church in Willmar. Burial will be in Cloverleaf Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Monday at the church. Arrangements are with Harvey Anderson Funeral Home. Memorial preferred to the Dementia Care Foundation. She was born Aug. 11, 1921, near Waupaca, Wis., to Fred and Sarah Rogers. She graduated from Bellin School of Nursing in 1946 and worked in hospitals and as a private duty nurse. She married Carroll Sawyer in 1943.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Wing-Bain Funeral Home in Granite Falls with a 7:30 p.m. prayer service, and for one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are preferred to the Granite Falls Lutheran Church or Granite Falls Hospital. She was born Oct.
PAYNESVILLE -- Arnold Helmuth Rosenau, 84, of Litchfield died Thursday at the Koronis Manor in Paynesville. The service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Grove City. Burial will be in the First Lutheran Cemetery in Grove City with military honors by the Litchfield Military Honor Guard. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home in Litchfield and continues one hour prior to the service at the church. He was born Feb. 7, 1924, in Truman to John and Mayme (Wetenkamp) Rosenau. He grew up and received his education in Truman.
