SOUTH HAVEN -- Gary Allyn von Wald, 72, of South Haven died Tuesday at his home. The service will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church in Cokato. He is survived by his wife: Juanita, of South Haven; five children, including Susan (and Dave) Fernholz of Madison; nine grandchildren; and two sisters.

WILLMAR -- Alvin Earl Epema, 74, of Willmar, died Wednesday at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar. The service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Willmar Christian Reformed Church. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society or the American Lung Association. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the church and one hour prior to the service Saturday. Arrangements are by Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar. He was born June 13, 1934, in Crookston to Sietze and Frances (Blokzyl) Epema.
SPICER -- Leonard Miller, 87, of Spicer died Saturday morning at the Belgrade Nursing Home. The service is at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Hope Presbyterian Church in rural Spicer. A private family burial will take place at a later date. Visitation is from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the Johnson Funeral Home in New London and at the church Wednesday for one hour before the service. He was born Jan. 5, 1921, in Hubbard, Neb., to Nels and Martha (Omvik) Miller.
PAYNESVILLE - Joseph M. Sawrey, 89, of Paynesville died Friday in Harcourt, Iowa. The service is at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Louis Catholic Church in Paynesville. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation is from 4 to 9 p.m. today at the Daniel-Anderson Funeral Home in Paynesville, with prayers by American Legion Post 271 at 6:30 p.m. and parish prayers at 8 p.m. Visitation continues at the church for one hour before the service. He was born Nov. 8, 1918, in Cogswell, N.D., to James and Vesta (Oxley) Sawrey. On Nov. 4, 1937, he married Veronica Gordon in Cogswell.

GRANITE FALLS - Walter Holien, 88, of Granite Falls died Sunday at the Granite Falls Manor. The service is at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Wang Lutheran Church in rural Maynard. Visitation is at the church for one hour before the service. Arrangements are with the Wing-Bain Funeral Home of Granite Falls. He was born Oct. 24, 1919, on the family farm in Wang Township, rural Maynard, to Christ and Clara (Lerohl) Holien. He attended rural school. In 1942, he joined the U.S. Army Air Corps, serving in Iceland in the control tower with the British Royal Air Force.
GARY, S.D. -- Clyde Helmbolt, 84, of Gary, S.D., died Sunday at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D. The service is at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the United Methodist Church in Gary, S.D. Burial will be in Grandview Cemetery in Gary. Visitation is at the church for one hour before the service.
PAYNESVILLE -- Lyle Raymond Soine, 61, of Hawick, died May 30 at his home in rural Hawick. The service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Paynesville Lutheran Church in Paynesville. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery in Willmar. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Johnson Funeral Home in Paynesville and one hour before the service at the church. He was born Oct. 3, 1946, in Willmar to Ralph and Stella (Hanson) Soine. He grew up in Hawick and attended New London elementary and high school. He followed his job moving to Florida and Kentucky before returning home to Minnesota.
