WILLOW GROVE, Pa. - Shortly after calling police in a panic, the pregnant mother of four-year-old Tahjir Smith began to carry her unresponsive, battered son outside, laying him on the ground as they waited for paramedics to arrive. Shortly after 6 p.m. Monday, Jan. 22, Tahjir Smith was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
WABASHA, Minn.—A 19-year-old Minnesota woman is dead following an accident at a ski resort in southeastern Minnesota Saturday, Jan. 20, according to KTTC-TV. Bethany Becker, of Corcoran, Minn., hit a tree after failing to make a turn toward the bottom of a ski slope at Coffee Mill Ski Area in Wabasha, according to police. An ambulance crew arrived on scene and transported Becker to Mayo Clinic-Saint Marys and met the Mayo One helicopter at Plainview along the way.

CERES, Calif.—A California man was so angry after his gaming headset broke following an argument with his mother that he grabbed a gun and shot her in the head, according to police. Matthew Nicholson, 28, of Ceres, is being held in a California jail without bail. About 9:48 p.m. Thursday night, Jan. 11, Ceres officers were dispatched on a report of a woman shot inside a home, according to police. Police arrived to find a 68-year-old victim with a gunshot wound to the head.

BEMIDJI, Minn.—The new year has only just begun, but is already off to an astronomically spectacular start. A Minnesota police officer's dash-cam footage is proof. In a video posted Thursday afternoon, Jan. 4, to the Bemidji Police Department's Facebook page, a meteor can be seen on the officer's dash-cam video plummeting towards the Earth's surface before quickly fizzling out. The video was taken the night of Jan. 3.
FARGO - Gander Outdoors CEO Marcus Lemonis has confirmed that the former Gander Mountain store in Fargo has not made the final list of stores that will be reopening, although five in Minnesota will open by spring. In a Periscope video posted on his Twitter page Wednesday, Jan. 3, Lemonis went through the final list of stores he said will eventually be reopening as Gander Outdoors, formerly Gander Mountain.
RIVER RIDGE, La. - A Louisiana veterinarian faces multiple felonies after she was accused of shooting and killing her neighbor's family dog in the back of its head, according to a FOX 8 report. Dr. Kelly Folse, 35, faces aggravated cruelty to animals and illegal discharge of a weapon near a school as well as unrelated drug charges. She was arrested without incident Tuesday, Dec. 19, at her home.
