WILLMAR -- Emergency personnel responded to a single-car accident along Willmar Avenue shortly before 8 a.m. Tuesday. One person was injured in the accident, which involved the vehicle leaving the road and hitting a tree at 904 Willmar Ave. S.E. As rescue personnel worked to remove the woman from the vehicle, an officer at the scene said, "at this point, we are going under the assumption she fell asleep at the wheel." Personnel from the Willmar fire and police departments, and rescue and ambulance personnel responded to the scene. No further information is available at this time.
A total of 98 wood duck houses were built during the fifth annual Wood Duck Habitat Day held the morning of March 5 at Prairie Woods Environmental Learning Center near New London. The event was sponsored by the Prairie Pothole Chapter of the Minnesota Waterfowl Association and was attended by an estimated 60 groups of people -- families, friends, clubs, etc. Prairie Pothole Chapter members were on hand to help with construction of the houses.
In searching out entertainment for a Watercade fundraiser, organizers decided to go with one of their own. Shock illusionist Dan Sperry -- a 2003 graduate of Litchfield High School -- will take the stage tonight at Bernie Aaker Auditorium, 114 N. Holcombe Ave., in Litchfield. Amy Fladeboe of Willmar remembers teaching her parents about recycling. And her parents remember teaching their parents not to burn trash or throw pop cans out the car windows.
