WILLMAR — Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, a program of the Department of Defense, awarded Marcus Construction owner Ross Marcus the Patriot Award during a recent event in St. Cloud. Marcus was nominated by employee Lt. Col. Dan O'Meara, who is an aviator in the Army National Guard. The award is for companies that provide support to their employees who serve in the military.

WILLMAR — Josh Meyer has been promoted to senior manager, ingredient purchasing at Jennie-O Turkey Store. He started with Jennie-O parent company Hormel Foods in 2006 at the Austin plant. Meyer has held various roles in the cured and smoked meats department. He then moved to Jennie-O in October 2013 as a feed ingredient buyer.
PENNOCK — Dawn Johnson, city administrator for the city of Pennock, has been certified by the Minnesota Clerks and Finance Officers Association as a Minnesota Certified Municipal Clerk. To earn the certification one has to be an association member for at least three years, complete the education programs and believe and practice the association's code of ethics. Johnson is one of 40 newly certified clerks in the state.
WILLMAR — Dr. Krista Hemmesch has joined the medical team of ACMC Health. A pediatrician who specializes in care for infants, children and adolescents, she will be based in the ACMC Willmar main clinic starting in August. An undergraduate of the University of Minnesota in Duluth, Hemmesch earned her medical degree at the University of Minnesota Medical School. She recently completed a residency at the Mayo Clinic. Hemmesch and her husband are originally from Paynesville and will be returning to the region with their young child.
WILLMAR — Nate Gwost has accepted a position at Conway, Deuth & Schmiesing. Gwost will be a staff accountant, focusing on profit auditing and tax preparation. Gwost graduated from St. Cloud State University with a degree in accounting, He was an intern with CDS in 2016. Gwost lives in Willmar.
WILLMAR—A 23-year-old Willmar woman sustained severe facial injuries after being bitten by a dog Sunday night. Willmar Police responded shortly before 11:30 p.m. to multiple phone calls about the incident, which happened at a convenience store in the 800 block of Litchfield Avenue Southwest. Officers arrived to find the victim holding a towel to her face. She had substantial facial lacerations, according to police. The dog and its owner were also present. The victim told police that the owner was a friend and that she was familiar with the dog.
ST. JOSEPH — Jessaca Zuidema from Kandiyohi County and Ashley Warren from Meeker County were named among the twelve finalists who will compete for the title of Minnesota's 64th Princess Kay of the Milky Way. The finalists were announced Sunday night following a weekend leadership workshop at the College of St. Benedict in St. Joseph. Zuidema, 19, of Blomkest, is the daughter of Jan and Jolene Zuidema. Warren, 19, of Watkins, is the daughter of John and Carol Warren.
This is the records summary for May 22 Theft SPICER — At 2:45 p.m. Sunday an individual reported that unidentified items were stolen from a boat in the 4600 block of 132nd Avenue Northeast. WILLMAR — A laptop computer, a computer bag, cell phone, checkbook and personal car keys were reported stolen from a rental car at 8:42 a.m. Sunday in the 1100 block of Benson Avenue Southwest. The suspects was believed to be driving a white Chevy Impala with a spoiler on the the trunk.
