CARROLL, Iowa - Swift County Administrator Mike Pogge-Weaver has received a conditional offer to become the city manager for Carroll, Iowa, according to a report published Wednesday by the Carroll County News. The newspaper reported that the mayor, Dr. Eric Jensen, had announced the offer. Pogge-Weaver was one of three finalists who had participated in a public forum as part of the selection process. Pogge-Weaver grew up in Fort Dodge, Iowa, and has relatives in the Lake City area, the paper reported.
ST. PAUL—Disaster aid will be on its way to Chippewa and Yellow Medicine counties and the Upper Sioux Community, Gov. Mark Dayton announced Wednesday. The governor authorized up to an estimated $259,191 in relief from the state disaster assistance contingency account for the three entities. The counties and the tribal community experienced damage to their public utilities caused by severe thunderstorms and high winds on July 16, and incurred significant debris removal costs.

AUSTIN—Hormel Foods Corporation CEO Jeffrey Ettinger will retire from the post Oct. 30, the company said Tuesday. The board of directors approved James Snee, its president and chief operating officer, to success Ettinger. The transition will occur at the end of Hormel's fiscal year. Ettinger will remain as chairman of the board. He served as chairman, president and chief executive officer from November 2006 to October 2015 when Snee became president and Ettinger then served as chairman and CEO. He has spent 27 years with Hormel.

PAYNESVILLE - The 27-year-old mystery surrounding the abduction and disappearance of Jacob Wetterling ended this weekend in the way that nobody hoped but everybody feared - his remains were found near Paynesville. The 11-year-old Wetterling was abducted on a dirt road in 1989 near the home of his parents, Patty and Jerry Wetterling, in rural St. Joseph, about 25 miles from Paynesville.
