This is the records summary for April 14. Crashes BENSON — A Benson man was injured Wednesday night when his vehicle collided with a semi. According to the State Patrol, the accident happened around 7:14 p.m. Wednesday on Minnesota Highway 9 and Swift County Road 31, east of Benson. A 2002 Chevrolet Blazer driven by Anthony Daniel Klucas, 47, was going north on County Road 31, failed to stop at a stop sign and was struck by a 2015 Peterbilt semi driven by Dale Mark Theiler, 53, of Swanville, that was traveling east on Highway 9.
WILLMAR — The Minnesota Department of Transportation on Thursday announced its 2017 transportation construction program, and motorists should know work will be starting soon. Favorable weather is allowing an early start on some projects. There is $35.4 million in work planned in District 8, which includes the southwest Minnesota counties of Chippewa, Kandiyohi, Lac qui Parle, Lincoln, Lyon, McLeod, Meeker, Murray, Pipestone, Redwood, Renville and Yellow Medicine. NEW LONDON — Ava Hanson, a student at New London-Spicer Middle School, has been selected for the 2017 Middle School Honors Performance Series at Carnegie Hall. She will perform at Carnegie Hall in June with the Honors Junior Choir. Participation in the choir is limited to the highest-rated middle school performers from across North America and select schools internationally. Ava auditioned this fall and was accepted after a review by the Honors Selection Board. Acceptance is based on talent, dedication, and achievements demonstrated in her application and audition recording.

WILLMAR — Spring road restrictions in Kandiyohi County will end at 12:01 a.m. Friday, the county Highway Department has announced. The restrictions, designed to minimize wear and tear on road surfaces during the spring thaw, have been in effect since February.
This is the records summary for April 12. Theft WILLMAR — Two chainsaws were reported stolen from Fireside Hearth & Home, 1001 Highway 12 E. The theft was reported at noon Tuesday. WILLMAR — The theft of ammunition and other items was reported from a storage locker in the 300 block of U.S. Highway 12 East. Missing were a box of 12-gauge shotgun shells, two boxes of .40-caliber ammunition, a 5-gallon oil can shell and a 5-gallon metal gas can. Arrest
ST. PAUL — A proposed off-highway vehicle park in Renville County is a step closer with the completion of an environmental assessment worksheet for the project. The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources announced Monday that it is accepting public comments on the worksheet prepared for the Minnesota Valley Off-Highway Vehicle Recreation Area project in Renville County, about 12 miles south of the communities of Sacred Heart and Renville along the Minnesota River.

Missing man located LITCHFIELD — The Meeker County Sheriff's Office has located and made contact with John Rassat, who was announced missing Saturday afternoon. The news release on Monday said Rassat is safe and the missing status has been removed. The Sheriff's Office thanked everyone who helped with the search and called with information.
CLARA CITY — The U.S. Small Business Administration has chosen the co-founders of Kay's Processing LLC and Kay's Naturals Inc., of Clara City, as the Minnesota Encore Entrepreneurs of 2017. Massoud Kazemzadeh and Ann Jones Kazemzadeh will be recognized at the Minnesota Small Business Week Awards Luncheon on May 4 at the Marriott Minneapolis Northwest in Brooklyn Park. The Clara City companies produce a line of high-protein, gluten-free cereals and snacks which are sold nationwide.
WILLMAR — Bruce Jaeger, aviator and business owner, will be inducted into the Minnesota Aviation Hall of Fame on April 22. Flying since 1954, Jaeger has earned many ratings of commercial and flight instructor certificates, eventually earning his master flight instructor designation. He purchased Willmar Air Service in 1979 and created one of the most successful Mooney aircraft dealers. He sold the business in 2008. Jaeger has also organized other flight training and Mooney refurbishment businesses through the years.
