KERKHOVEN — Kimberly Harkema, city clerk for Kerkhoven, is now a Minnesota Certified Municipal Clerk through the Minnesota Clerks & Finance Officers Association. To obtain the certification, clerks must complete advanced educational training along with being an association member for three years and affirm they follow the association's code of ethics.
GLENWOOD — Justin Zavadil has been named president of American Solutions for Business, a distributor of print and document solutions, promotional products, office supplies, ecommerce and marketing solutions located in Glenwood. Zavadil is the son of founder and CEO Larry Zavadil and has held many positions in the company, including sales representative, director of vendor relations, vice president of sales and executive vice president. His responsibilities will include managing the senior leadership team and home office departments.
WILLMAR — By this fall, the Kandi Dental Center will move into its new home. Currently located in the Kandi Mall, the dental office of Dr. Nicholas Marcus is in the process of building a new location. Located at 400 24th Ave. S.E. in Willmar, the 3,358-square-foot office will be located near Taco Bell in the Waterview Business Park. Soil corrections began last week and the plan is for the new building to be open late fall.
WILLMAR — There were 54 building permits issued by the city of Willmar in March, with a total estimated valuation of projects of $4,320,810. The city collected $38,117 in permit fees. There was one new home permit and several residential reroof or new furnace permits. Significant permits include the following: • State of Minnesota, 920 Fourth St. S.W., install new windows and siding, $20,000. • State of Minnesota, 614 Business 71 N., major remodel to existing armory, $2,920,000.

According to a news release from the Kandiyohi County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to a 911 call from a home in the 10000 block of 30th Avenue Northeast at about 8:30 p.m. Friday. While they were en route to the home, another call to county dispatch said a 23-year-old woman had suffered a possible broken ankle.
