NEW LONDON — A woman is recovering Monday evening after falling through the ice on Mary Lake, northwest of Willmar, while attempting to rescue her dog out on the frozen lake. Another family member went into the water and broke ice to rescue the woman and get her to shore, according to a news release from the Kandiyohi County Sheriff's Office. Emergency services were called around 3:20 p.m. to a residence on 157th Avenue Northwest, where family was attempting to get the woman warm. She was transported to Rice Hospital for treatment of possible hypothermia.

Crash near Belgrade takes out power pole, causes outages BELGRADE— A 23-year-old Brooten man was injured early Sunday morning in a one-vehicle crash that caused power outages in the Belgrade area. According to a news release from the Stearns County Sheriff's Office, Jordan Michael Lewis, 23, of Brooten, was driving west on County Road 19 shortly after 4:30 a.m. when his vehicle failed to negotiate a curve near County Road 200.
