ST. PAUL -- Minnesota Gov. Mark Dayton, who fainted Monday night during his State of the State speech, revealed Tuesday, Jan. 24, that he was diagnosed with prostate cancer.
NEW LONDON - A bicyclist and truck collided around 6:45 a.m. morning in New London. The collision occured at th Intersection of First Avenue North and state Highway 9, which is Main Street in New London. The truck involves belongs to Oak Ridge Construction of New London. The individual on the bike ran away from the scene. Kandiyohi County Sheriff's deputies were looking for him.
WILLMAR — The West Central Tribune welcomes Rachel Lawton as a multimedia specialist. A graduate of Willmar Senior High School, Lawton earned her bachelor's degree from North Dakota State University in sports management. Lawton previously worked for the Willmar Stingers Baseball organization as the team's hospitality and event management coordinator. She was also the merchandising and marketing intern for the Fargo-Moorhead Redhawks baseball organization.
LITCHFIELD — Patty Rick will be assisting Christianson PLLP's Litchfield location during the busy tax season as seasonal front desk support. She will help with scheduling tax appointments, greeting clients, preparing documents and other office tasks. Rick has 15 years experience, having worked with Meeker Memorial Hospital as an admitting assistant and with Patten Chiropractic Center as a receptionist.
WILLMAR — Dr. Jeffrey Fischer of Fischer Laser Eye Center has extended his certification with the American Board of Ophthalmology for another 10 years. He successfully completed the Demonstration of Ophthalmic Cognitive Knowledge exam, illustrating his continuing knowledge of ophthalmology and renewing his maintenance of certification. This is one of the highest honors available from the American Board of Ophthalmology.
WILLMAR — Smart Style stylist Katie Garin has relocated to the Willmar Smart Style, located inside the Willmar Walmart. Garin has over a year experience and previously worked at the Smart Style in Brainerd.
MELROSE — The University of Minnesota Extension is holding a labor management workshop at the Melrose City Center in February and March. The workshop, "Leadership for Successful Employment Management," will be taught in four sessions by Betty Berning, Extension educator, and Bob Milligan, professor emeritus. Minnesota Dairy Initiatives is a collaborator of the workshop.
MARSHALL — All employers and business owners must file tax forms W-2, W-3 and 1099-MISC by Jan. 31 for the 2016 tax year. These changes were made in the Protecting Americans from Tax Hikes Act which was signed into law in December 2015.
WILLMAR — Alex Gay is the new accounting student intern at Christianson PLLP in Willmar. He will receive hands-on experience by working with Christianson staff on projects. Gay is a student at Minnesota State University in Mankato. He is set to graduate this summer with a bachelor's degree in accounting.

Police pursuit FAIRFAX — A man who led police on a six-mile pursuit Sunday afternoon in Renville County was arrested on drinking and driving-related charges and is expected to make a court appearance this week. According to the Renville County Sheriff's Office, at around 1:30 p.m. a deputy attempted to stop a 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix for speeding and failure to signal. The driver, a 34-year-old man from Buffalo Lake, continued to drive for six miles through Martinsburg Township as deputies pursued him.
