This is the records summary for Nov. 2. Six injured in head-on crash LITCHFIELD — Six people, including three children, were injured in a head-on crash just after 7 p.m. Monday in Litchfield. According to the State Patrol, Jerry J. Block, Kelly S. Block, and children Evan, 9, Nora, 7, and Brenna Block, 5, all of Cosmos, were injured in the crash on U.S. Highway 12 in Litchfield.
GREEN LAKE TOWNSHIP—Sarah Loso, of New London, was hospitalized Monday night after her vehicle went off a rural county road northwest of Henderson Lake in Green Lake Township. Loso, 36, had been driving a 1996 Jeep through the intersections of Kandiyohi County Roads 9 and 10. Around 10:30 p.m. Monday, her vehicle ran off the road, partially submerging in a slough north of the intersection, according to the Kandiyohi County Sheriff's Office.

BENSON—A 78-year-old man was struck by a van early Monday while crossing Highway 29 in Benson. The State Patrol says Wayne Nicholson, of Benson, was transported to CentraCare Health in St. Cloud with non-life threatening injuries. Nicholson had been crossing mid-block, between intersections. He was struck around 5:40 a.m. in the southbound lane by a 1989 Dodge Caravan, driven by Timothy D. Ziegler, 58, also of Benson. Ziegler had been driving south on Highway 29 at the time of the crash.
Last week we talked about orchids, different kinds, watering needs, etc. This week we would like to cover the topic of "bud blast." That is when you watch as long-awaited orchid buds brown, die and drop instead of becoming beautiful flowers. Bud blast is when buds wither and fall from an otherwise healthy plant. There are any number of causes for this to happen. Buds are the most sensitive part of an orchid and are easily affected by unsuitable conditions in the growing environment.

Criminal damage to property WILLMAR — Just before 7:30 p.m. Thursday, a man was cited for criminal damage to property and disorderly conduct after he reportedly threw a chair at a glass window. The incident happened on the 1500 block of Dana Drive Southeast. Deputies from the Kandiyohi County Sheriff's Office and officers from the Willmar Police Department assisted at the scene. NEW LONDON — The fifth annual Minnesota BEST robotics competition takes place Friday and Saturday at the New London-Spicer High School. BEST stands for Boosting Engineering, Science and Technology. Six teams will compete including ARCHER Home School, Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa, Henning Schools, Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg, MACCRAY and New London-Spicer.
