WILLMAR -- In a show of support for Willmar’s Muslim community, volunteers have organized a walk Saturday out to the Kandiyohi County Fairgrounds and Foot Lake, where two young boys accidentally drowned this week. The walk starts at 2 p.m. Saturday at Bethel Lutheran Church downtown and will end at the entrance to the fairgrounds on North Seventh Street. The event, which is open to anyone who wants to participate, was organized by Jared Wosmek of Willmar.
SPICER -- A concerned caller on the 9500 block of 90th Street Northeast reported a 12-year-old child was shooting a .22-caliber gun near their property around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. The caller told the Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Office that contractors on their property had heard shots near them Wednesday, and said he was worried. A deputy talked to the subject of the complaint, who denied shooting in the direction of the residence.

WILLMAR -- There will be prayers at 1:30 p.m. today at the Islamic Society of Willmar mosque in northwest Willmar for the two boys who drowned Tuesday in Foot Lake. Abdullahi Olow, in a Facebook post, offered thanks to the community for the prayers and condolences on behalf of the grieved families and on behalf of the Somali community.

LAKE LILLIAN -- Two people were injured Tuesday night in southern Kandiyohi County when the motorcycle they were riding collided with a deer. The accident was reported at 9:41 p.m. in the 6800 block of Kandiyohi County Road 8 Southeast in Fahlun Township. According to the Sheriff’s Office, a 2004 Harley-Davidson motorcycle pulling a trailer struck a deer that was crossing the road.
