The Willmar City Council is set to make a decision Monday on whether they will limit where some sex offenders can live within city limits. Threatening message WILLMAR — A resident of a home on the 600 block of Pacific Avenue Southwest reported finding a bag near their front door just before 8 a.m. Thursday with a message threatening to kill a named individual written on it. Willmar police responded and noted that the bag was located in the dirt and not in a location where it could be seen clearly. Photos were taken of the scene. Assault
In conjunction with National Dairy Month, the Willmar area will play host to a slew of activities beginning this week as part of West Central Dairy Days. A collaborative effort through various dairy associations within Kandiyohi County and the surrounding area, Dairy Days looks to increase awareness of the dairy industry’s importance to Minnesota’s economy.
LITCHFIELD – The luck of the horseshoe was apparently with a farrier from Meeker County. Joseph Yanish, a professional farrier from Litchfield, won $1 million May 14 playing Powerball. Yanish and his family claimed the prize Thursday at lottery headquarters in Roseville. He is the third Minnesotan to win a $1 million Powerball prize so far this year. Yanish said he won the $1 million prize on an “impulse purchase” he made at a Casey’s General Store in St. Cloud.

WILLMAR — The Kandiyohi County Board of Appeal and Equalization will meet at 6 p.m. June 13 in the board room at the Health and Human Services Building. The purpose of the meeting is to hear appeals from property owners who disagree with the assessed valuation of their property. Property owners must have gone before their local township board before appealing at the county level.
