REDWOOD FALLS — Laney Lu's Boutique of Redwood Falls has been named a finalist in the 2017 Boutique Awards for the state of Minnesota. The boutique is a contender for the Best Storefront Boutique of the Year. The awards, hosted by Boutique Hub, are the only global recognition event for independent boutique retail owners in the fashion industry. Laney Lu's Boutique was opened in March 2014 by Emily Davis, who also owns A&W Furniture. The store carries women's fashion and apparel.
GLENWOOD — Peters Sunset Beach Resort in Glenwood has been recognized as a Century Resort by the Minnesota Resort & Campground Association. Peters is one of the first six resorts to be enrolled in the new designation. Peters was established in 1915 on the shores of Lake Minnewaska, first named Glenwood Summer Hotel. The Peters family grew the business and renamed it Peters Sunset Beach Resort in 1918. The fourth generation of Peters is now operating the business, with the fifth generation lending a hand.
This is the records summary for Aug. 22. Two injured in crash LITCHFIELD — Two people were injured in a crash Sunday evening on U.S. Highway 12 near Minnesota Highway 22 in Litchfield. The Minnesota State Patrol said a 17-year-old woman driving a 2001 Ford F150 pickup apparently made a U-turn in the path of a 2009 Toyota Camry that was westbound on Highway 12. The Camry then struck the the driver's side of the pickup.
OLIVIA—Motorists traveling in Olivia will encounter a short detour, starting Monday, as crews work on the railroad crossing near the intersection of U.S. Highways 212 and 71 on the west edge of Olivia. Motorists will be detoured on Highway 212 to Renville County Road 1 north, then to Renville County Road 11. The road is expected to open Aug. 29.

The State Patrol said Derek Lacasse, 46, from Derry, New Hampshire, was driving a semi and trailer on state Highway 23 when the trailer caught fire shortly after midnight. Lacasse was not injured in the incident.

Green Mill cook hurt in grease fire WILLMAR — A cook at the Green Mill restaurant sustained burns while trying to put out a grease fire that broke out in the kitchen shortly before 11 a.m. Thursday. The fire was confined to a pan and was extinguished before the Willmar Fire Department arrived. The employee was treated at the scene for burns to the arm before being taken to the emergency department at Rice Memorial Hospital for further evaluation.
