WILLMAR — A 60-year old male from Carthage, Missouri, has died after he was injured on a construction site job Friday afternoon near the Kandi Mall in Willmar, according to Willmar Police Chief Jim Felt. Felt reported the death Saturday morning. The Willmar Police Department and Willmar Ambulance were called to the construction site on the west side of Kandi Mall about 12:45 p.m. Friday after a report of a worker being injured.

Suspect arrested after chase in Willmar WILLMAR—A suspect is in custody following a motor vehicle chase in Willmar Thursday afternoon involving an agent with the CEE-VI Drug and Gang Task Force. During the course of the pursuit, the suspect discarded several items from the car, according to a statement issued by the task force. The items were later recovered by drug task force agents and determined to be methamphetamine and meth paraphernalia.

"Dead in Deadwood" is a comedy production to be presented Friday through Sunday at Svea Lutheran Church as a fundraiser for church carpeting, as well as funding to raise awareness, aid victims and fight human trafficking. Svea Lutheran Church is a small congregation in Svea, eight miles south of Willmar. For 20 years or so, the youth have put on a fundraising dinner theater each year, and the church basement has been transformed into Egypt, Venice and a small town pie social, among other things.

WILLMAR — Jennie-O Turkey Store announces the hiring of four students for the summer as part of the Step-Up program. Ridwan Dahir has joined the company in the sales accounting and accounting services department. Dahir is a senior at Willmar Senior High School, graduating in June 2018. Allyssa Herrera will be helping in the supply chain area, assisting with distribution, logistics and department scheduling. She attends the Alternative Learning Center in the Willmar and expects to graduate this fall.
WILLMAR — The Foxhole Brewhouse of Willmar brought home two medals from the 2017 U.S. Open Beer Championship. The brewery won gold for its Old Snaggletooth in the old ale category. Its EKG Amber was awarded bronze in the English mild ale category. There were over 6,000 entries from around the world competing in 100 different brews. In addition to the Foxhole's successes, other Minnesota brewers won another 13 medals.
