LITCHFIELD — The Middle Fork Crow River Watershed District is hosting an open house and information session to present potential and upcoming improvements to the Middle Fork Crow River in Meeker County, also known as Meeker County Ditch 47. It will be held from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 19, at the Meeker County Courthouse, 325 N. Sibley Ave., Litchfield. The 11 miles of the Middle Fork Crow River downstream of Lake Calhoun is channelized. The stretch is degraded and erosion is a significant problem.
OLIVIA — The Hawk Creek Watershed Project, Renville County Water Management, and Renville County Soil and Water Conservation District are hosting a cover crop field day from 8 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 20. WILLMAR — An informational meeting on a project to resurface U.S. Highway 71 is set for 4:30-6:30 p.m. Thursday. The Minnesota Department of Transportation will hold the open house at Cross Roads Community United Methodist Church, 3400 113th Ave. N.E., Spicer, to discuss plans to resurface Highway 71 from the junction of state Highway 23 to just north of state Highway 9 in Kandiyohi County.
MILAN — A Holloway man died Tuesday after a road grader he was driving collided with a train near Milan. Ronald Munstermann of Holloway was operating the road grader on 140th Avenue Northwest at the intersection with Highway 7/59. The grader collided with a Twin Cities & Western Railroad Co. train at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday. Munstermann was transported to the Chippewa County-Montevideo Hospital and later pronounced dead.

Bus stop concerns WILLMAR — Willmar police received a request for extra patrol and a report of two sports cars driving fast past a corner where children are waiting for the school bus shortly before 8 a.m. in southwest Willmar. According to the initial report, a red Toyota and a blue car with black painted wheels have been driven at a high rate of speed past the intersection of Terrace Drive and Richland Avenue Southwest. WILLMAR — Adam Krych has accepted a position with Jennie-O Turkey Store as a maintenance engineer at the Willmar Avenue Plant. He is a 2015 graduate of the University of Minnesota in Duluth. Krych recently worked at the Hormel Austin Plant as a maintenance engineer. Hormel Foods is the parent company of Jennie-O Turkey Store.

In her new role she will be assisting clients with bookkeeping, payroll processing and reporting, QuickBooks consulting and tax preparation for business and individuals.
