Early spring is a terrific time to move, renovate and/or divide your daylilies, hosta or other perennials. If a clump is getting to be crowded and you would like additional plants, the best time of the year to do this dividing is as soon as the sprouts show above ground. Hopefully you have your specimens identified. Hosta can be moved/divided any time during the year, but if you wait until the leaves are fully open, you won't have a very pretty hosta the first year as opposed to doing this task before the leaves have unfurled.
WILLMAR — Starting at 9 a.m. Monday, crews with Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway will be doing maintenance work at the railroad crossing at Kandiyohi County Road 55 southwest of Willmar. The crossing will be closed to traffic. It is scheduled to reopen at 3 p.m. Monday. Motorists are advised to use alternate routes.

Crashes GRANITE FALLS — No serious injuries were reported when two vehicles collided Thursday afternoon at the intersection of Minnesota Highway 23 and U.S. Highway 212 in Granite Falls. The Minnesota State Patrol said the crash happened when the driver of a 2000 Ford Taurus that was southbound on Highway 23 attempted to turn left onto Highway 212 and was struck in the intersection by a Ford F150 truck, which was northbound on Highway 23.

Man injured in rollover RAYMOND — A male in his mid-20s was airlifted to Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis with serious injuries after being extracted from his vehicle following an one-vehicle rollover crash on Kandiyohi County Road 5, just north of County Road 3, east of Raymond. The name of the individual has not been released. There were no other occupants in the vehicle. The incident happened at approximately 11:30 a.m. Thursday.
REDWOOD FALLS — A plan that will guide Renville and Redwood counties as they promote recreational and economic opportunities in the Minnesota River Valley is now available for review. The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources released the Minnesota River Valley Master Plan on Monday, and is taking public comments on it for 30 days. Willmar man airlifted after Highway 71 crash OLIVIA — A Willmar man was airlifted after a three-vehicle crash Monday morning on U.S. Highway 71 north of Olivia. Dustin Ross Lavoie, 24, of Willmar was airlifted to North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale with non-life-threatening injuries, according to a report from the Minnesota State Patrol. He was not wearing a seatbelt, according to the report.
WILLMAR — Jennie-O Turkey Stored has promoted Mary Conrad to application team leader supporting operations. In her new job Conrad will keep applications for plant operations running, make sure team members receive proper training and improve application processes. Conrad joined Jennie-O in 2008 as a application analyst. She has supported live production, supply chain, human resources and operations.
ST. PAUL — The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency awarded 327 wastewater treatment facilities across the state for outstanding permit compliance from September 2015 to September 2016. Several regional plants were on the list including Bird Island, Granite Falls, Hanley Falls, Holloway, Lac qui Parle Valley High School, Milan, Montevideo, Paynesville, Pennock, Renville and Starbuck.
