WILLMAR — The board of directors of the Barn Theatre announced Thursday in a news release that Executive Director Zack Thelen-Liebl has resigned effective Oct. 31. He decided to resign from his position at the Barn Theatre after being assigned as the company commander to A Company, 334th Brigade Engineer Battalion, in Hutchinson and accepting a full-time active duty operational support position in Bloomington.
HAWICK – A Paynesville man was injured in a two vehicle crash Wednesday night east of Hawick. According to the State Patrol, Logan Michael Kascht, 19, was traveling east on state Highway 23 when his 2006 GMC Sierra was struck by a 2012 GMC Sierra that was going north on Roseville Road and failed to yield at the intersection. Kacht’s vehicle went into the median and rolled.

The tanks were taken from two campers and a fish house. The theft was reported Tuesday evening. Drug theft SPICER — The theft of medications was reported in the 12800 block of Second Street Northeast. The theft was reported after Tuesday afternoon. WILLMAR — A man involved in an assault and robbery last year in a Willmar alley was sentenced Monday to five years in prison. According to court documents, Darrell Gene Weyaus Jr., 20, of Hinckley, will get credit for 189 days already served. He was convicted of one count of possessing ammunition and/or a firearm after a conviction or delinquency adjudication for a crime of violence. The charge is a felony. An additional felony charge of second-degree assault was dismissed.
WILLMAR — Interior Design Studio owner Mary Weimerskirch and designers Jayne Engelmann and Katie Morgan attended the fall international home furnishings market last week in High Point, North Carolina. The market showcased home furnishing lines from celebrity designers such as Joanna Gaines and Drew and Jonathan Scott. The trio from Willmar also saw the new colors and trends in home decor and purchased items for the business.
WILLMAR — AT&T has made 26 network updates to cell towers across the region to expand access to the cell carrier's 4G LTE network. Over two dozen communities in southwest Minnesota, including Belgrade, Buffalo Lake, Fairfax, Granite Falls, Lake Lillian, New London, Raymond and Willmar had their towers upgraded and will have faster and more reliable wireless service.

WILLMAR — Dr. Kou Thao will open an Aspen Dental office in Willmar this November. The new dentist office will open its doors Nov. 2 at its location at 1709 1st St. S. Thao earned his dentistry degree from the University of Minnesota. Aspen Dental decided to open an office in Willmar because it was in a region the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has designated as a dental health professional shortage area. Aspen Dental of Willmar will offer general dentistry, dentures and denture repairs, preventive care and restoration services.
