WILLMAR — The Willmar School Board will meet at 4:30 p.m. Monday in the boardroom on the first floor of the Willmar Education and Arts Center, 611 Fifth St. S.W. The board plans to discuss its three-year board agenda and the 2017-18 school year calendar. An application will be considered for a grant that would help the district pay for classroom interventionists in math and reading. The board meeting will be shown on local public access cable 188 at noon and 9 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday and at 12:30 and 9:30 p.m. on Friday.

U.S. Rep. Collin Peterson took his first title in the Minnesota Congressional Delegation Hotdish Off Wednesday. Peterson's "Right to Bear Arms Hotdish" took the honors at the seventh annual bipartisan cooking competition hosted each year by Sen. Al Franken. The Hotdish Off carries the motto, "working together to improve the lives of Minnesotans, one hotdish at a time." Peterson represents Minnesota's Seventh Congressional District, which includes west central Minnesota.

WILLMAR — A 52-year-old Willmar man was injured Tuesday morning in a broadside crash on U.S. Highway 71 just north of Willmar. According to the State Patrol, Marco Tulio Munos was transported to Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar with non-life threatening injuries after the 8 a.m. crash. He had been driving a 1997 Ford Escort north on Highway 71. At the same time, 16-year-old Devin Jon Fuchs, also of Willmar, was driving a 2004 Acura TL southbound on Highway 71.
