WILLMAR — The Minnesota Department of Transportation has cancelled the no travel advisories that were put into place Friday for parts of southwest Minnesota. The no travel advisories have been lifted for the following areas: Kandiyohi County, Lac qui Parle County, Lincoln County, Lyon County, Meeker County, Murray County, Pipestone County and Yellow Medicine County.
WILLMAR — The Willmar City Council will meet at 7 p.m. Monday in the council chambers at the Willmar Municipal Utilities building, 700 Litchfield Ave. S.W. The staff will give the council an update on stormwater updates and improvements. The council is expected to consider an agreement for 2017 engineering services. Bolton & Menk has been recommended by the council's Public Works/Safety Committee.
WILLMAR — Students earning community college associate of arts degrees like those awarded each year at Ridgewater College may now be guaranteed the degree will transfer to any of any of Minnesota State's seven public universities. Minnesota State, formerly known as Minnesota State Colleges and Universities, announced a new program this week for students who complete the Minnesota Transfer Curriculum and earn a minimum 2.0 GPA at six of the colleges and a 2.4 GPA at Winona State University.
HECTOR -- U.S. Highway 212, west of Hector, is currently blocked by an overturned semi-truck, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT). The highway, which cuts across the middle of Renville County, is expected to be blocked until at least 6:15 p.m. MnDOT says drivers should use a different route. According to the Minnesota State Patrol, at least 340 crashes and 559 off-road spinouts have been reported statewide amid deteriorating road conditions due to Friday's snowstorm.

Assault WILLMAR—Police responded to the 500 block of Sixth St. S.W. at 6:15 p.m. Tuesday on a report of a physical assault. A woman told police that a woman's ex-boyfriend had beat up a current boyfriend. One man involved said he had been hit and head-butted, and was bleeding, but did not want to press charges or seek medical attention. The other man had left the scene on foot before police arrived. VICTORIA -- Part of State Highway 7 is expected to be closed until at least 6 p.m. Wednesday after a semi-tanker lost a 368,000-pound tank on a stretch of the highway just west of Minneapolis. The State Patrol says a commercial vehicle lost the tank just before 3:30 a.m. in Victoria. Officials are rerouting traffic to U.S. Highways 12 and 212 and State Highway 5 as they build a crane to lift the tank onto a new trailer. The Patrol says it is still unsure why the tank fell.
Suspicious vehicle leads to citations WILLMAR—Two people were cited for fleeing on foot after a traffic stop near 490 19th Ave. S.E. in Willmar.
