DANUBE—A 65-year-old man escaped from his vehicle before it became fully engulfed in flames on a rural Renville County road Monday morning. The Renville County Sheriff's Office says the fire happened shortly before 6 a.m., while Gregory Penke was driving a 2000 Plymouth Breeze west on Renville County Road 11. Just west of 280th Street, Penke, of rural Danube, noticed smoke coming out of his heater vents. His vehicle caught fire minutes later. Penke escaped the vehicle before it became fully engulfed, the Sheriff's Office said.
Accident ORTONVILLE — Lisa M. Nord, 46, of Fergus Falls was injured Sunday near Ortonville when she swerved to miss a deer and went off the road. According to the State Patrol, at around 12:29 a.m. Nord was driving a 1998 Ford Explorer south on U.S. Highway 75. She swerved to avoid hitting a deer and went off the road near 390 Street. The vehicle rolled and came to a rest on its wheels facing northwest. Nord was taken to the hospital in Ortonville with non-life-threatening injuries, according to the State Patrol.

Accident WILLMAR — Two people were injured in a head-on crash Friday afternoon east of Willmar on U.S. Highway 12. According to the State Patrol report, at around 1:30 p.m. a 2003 Ford Focus driven by Bonifacio G. Vicuna, 34, of Willmar, was going west on Highway 12 near 45th Street and swerved over the center line "to avoid a crash" but then crashed head-on with an eastbound 2005 Chrysler Town & Country minivan driven by Silvio Guzman, Jr., 34, of Svea. The Ford Focus then rolled onto its roof.
