SAUK RAPIDS — Cesar Leiva scored both his goals on assists from Abdi Nassir in the first 10 minutes and the Willmar boys soccer team rolled from there, defeating Sauk Rapids 8-0 on Tuesday at Sauk Rapids-Rice High School. Carlos Robles scored three Cardinal goals, and Nassir, Andrew Haugen and Kelvin Gomez-Padilla also tallied for Willmar. Mohamud Mohamed assisted on two goals and Carlos Maldonado-Garcia and Leiva also had assists. Zach Courtney stopped all five Storm shots he faced. Willmar put 20 shots on goal.
The New London-Spicer athletic department will induct six former Wildcat athletes into the NLS Athletic Hall of Fame on Oct. 4. COON RAPIDS — Lexi Vos and Baylee Larsen both had 11 kills to lead the Ridgewater volleyball team to a three-game sweep of Anoka-Ramsey on Wednesday. Vos also had three ace blocks and Larsen had two solo blocks and served two aces. Staci Banks had 21 set assists and two service aces. WILLMAR — Lost momentum on a windy day helped the St. Cloud Apollo boys soccer team shut out Willmar 3-0 on Tuesday at the Kennedy School field. On a blustery day, Willmar had the advantage of playing with the wind in the first half. But Apollo's Abdifatah Farah scored, with his team playing into the wind, in the eighth minute. Logan Lommel made it 2-0 with a goal in the final minute of the first half.
WILLMAR—Dave Graves won Valley Golf's Club Championship during the 2018 Club Tournament on Sept. 8-9. In five, nine-hole rounds, Graves finished at 184, a stroke better than Josh Bernhagen and two shots ahead of Devin Johnson. Bill Iverson and Justin Wadsworth tied for fourth at 187 and Dustin Carlson was sixth with a 189. In the Presidents Flight, Troy Pederson shot a three, nine-hole round total of 116. Kyler Kerschner was second at 117, Mike Saulsburg was third at 122 and Ryan Scheffler and Tyler tied for fourth at 124.
ST. CLOUD — After a gut-wretching loss last week to Holy Family Catholic, New London-Spicer jumped on St. Cloud Cathedral early en route to a 55-7 win Thursday at Husky Stadium.

BRAINERD — Willmar's Carly Wedel and Caitlyn Ogdahl both had 13 kills and Wedel also had 16 set assists as the Cardinals defeated Brainerd in three games in their Central Lakes Conference opener on Thursday. The Cardinals won 25-23, 25-17 and 25-20. Willmar's Lydia Larson also had 14 set assists and Ogdahl had thee solo blocks. Willmar improved to 2-1 overall.
