DEED awards $40K grant to Ridgewater for Custom Roto Mold training

WILLMAR — The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development has awarded a $40,000 grant to Ridgewater College to train more than 60 employees of Custom Roto Mold in Benson.

The grant was awarded under the agency’s Minnesota Job Skills Partnership Program. The program works strategically with both businesses and educational institutions to train or retrain workers, expand work opportunities and keep high-quality jobs in the state, according to a news release.

Custom Roto Mold is a leader in rotational molding, creating customized plastic products for its customers. The company has about 60 employees and plans to hire new workers over the next two years, the news release states.

The grant will support training to upgrade the skills of the current workforce and prepare new workers for the production floor. The curriculum includes rotational molding process taught by Paul Neugent, a world-renowned specialist in his field; blueprint reading; management training; safety training and other areas. Employees will be able to earn hourly-based certificates from Ridgewater College.
