Hitchhiker chicken gets five-day ride, fouls deputy's car trunk

WILLMAR — Minnesota chickens must be awfully tough.

A Kandiyohi County Sheriff's Office deputy discovered that this week.

According to a post on the Sheriff's Office Facebook page, the deputy opened the squad trunk for the first time in days and found a live chicken.

The chicken is believed to have jumped into the trunk five days earlier, on Aug. 2, when the deputy was at a home with chickens helping to unlock a vehicle.

The chicken was given "water and care" and returned to its owner, according to the post, and the deputy was left to deal with a messy trunk.

As the Sheriff's Office post says, "We can't make this stuff up!"
