Fair farm rental agreement: The University of Minnesota Extension has scheduled a series of land rent workshops. Meetings to be held in the area are:

  • Willmar: Jan. 29, 9:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., Mid Central Research and Outreach Center

Minnesota National Farmers Organization: Nov. 30, 9:30 a.m. Max’s Grill, Olivia; the annual state convention with Minnesota Commissioner of Agriculture Thom Peterson as the keynote speaker. The daylong meeting will have a variety of speakers and a national director election.

Women in Ag Network: Dec. 12, 5:30 to 9 p.m., Redwood Falls Area Community Center, 901 E. Cook St., Redwood Falls. The workshop “How to get $4 corn,” designed by Ed Usset, is a simulation game where attendees will explore three steps toward getting $4 or more for their corn. It will be also be held from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Dec. 10 in Albany and in the evening on Jan. 9 in Mankato. Cost is $10, including lunch. Minnesota Cattle Industry Convention: Dec. 13-14, Willmar Conference Center. The convention, hosted by the Minnesota State Cattlemen's Association, brings together Minnesota farmers and ranchers, as well as many other beef industry stakeholders for educational opportunities, policy discussion and development, and a cattle-focused trade show. Special guests include Minnesota Millennial farmer Zach Johnson, association legislative adviser Bruce Kleven and National Cattlemen’s Beef Association Senior Director of International Trade and Market Access Kent Bacus, along with many other agriculture industry leaders and elected officials from across the state.
