New director leads DNR's southern post
NEW ULM — Scott Roemhildt is the new regional director for the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources' southern region, which includes the west central area, according to ann announcement from the DNR.
Roemhildt succeeds Dennis Frederickson, who retired on Feb. 6. Frederickson had led the regional office since 2011. It followed his 30 years of service as a state senator..
Headquartered in New Ulm, the DNR's southern region is comprised of 32 counties stretching from Mower County in the southeast to Big Stone County in its northwest corner.
Roemhildt is a native of Waseca County. He has been with the DNR since 2011 and has held various leadership roles within the department, most recently as coordinator of the DNR's Walk-In Access program. He will continue to lead that program.
Prior to the DNR, Roemhildt held positions with Pheasants Forever, AgStar Financial, Hubbard Milling Company, and as adjunct faculty at Minnesota State University-Mankato.
Roemhildt is an avid outdoorsman, spending time with his family hunting, camping, snowshoeing, and making maple syrup.
