WILLMAR — Ben Carlson joined the Mid-Minnesota Development Commission as a communications specialist, according to a news release from the organization.
According to the release, Carlson will elevate the commission's visibility by sharing the organization’s accomplishments throughout the region. He will also use his skills to support key initiatives, including economic and community development.
Carlson, a Willmar native, joins the organization after serving as the marketing and communications director for the Kandiyohi County YMCA.
He has an associate degree from Central Lakes College in Brainerd.
Carlson brings 10 years of related experience to the organization, having worked in communications for the Willmar Stingers baseball club as well as the Willmar Warhawks and Alexandria Blizzard hockey teams.

The Mid-Minnesota Development Commission administers state and federal programs, coordinates multi-jurisdictional activities, and provides technical assistance to government, business, and local organizations in Kandiyohi, McLeod, Meeker, and Renville counties.
