NEW LONDON — An option for installing residential solar panels under the umbrella of a solar cooperative will be discussed next week in New London.

The meeting, which will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16, at Goat Ridge Brewing, is the final public meeting that the Kandiyohi County Solar Cooperative will hold prior to the Feb. 28 sign-up deadline.

Communications director Ben Delman said co-op participants are working together to learn about solar energy and to have solar installed on their homes through a bulk purchase.

The solar co-op is free to join and joining is not a commitment to purchase panels, Delman said.

A solar installer, MN Solar and More, has been selected to work with the co-op through the bidding process.

Delman said the installer is in the process of developing personalized proposals for each homeowner in the group. Participants will review their proposals to decide if going solar is right for them.
