GRANITE FALLS — Fagen Inc., of Granite Falls, has been awarded the general works contract for Astoria Station by Otter Tail Power Company.
The Astoria Station power generation facility located near Astoria, South Dakota, will be a simple-cycle natural gas combustion turbine with 245 megawatts of capacity. Fagen Inc.’s contract consists of the mechanical installation of the combustion turbine in addition to the balance of plant equipment supply and associated civil, concrete, pipe, electrical, instrumentation and commissioning work.
Astoria Station will provide power for periods of high demand, complementing Otter Tail Power’s wind generation as a backstop when the wind isn’t blowing.
