WILLMAR - The Highway 23 resurfacing project from Willmar to New London is complete.
Weather permitting, permanent striping will take place under traffic over the next 10 days, the Minnesota Department of Transportation announced in a news release.
The project began Aug. 13 in Spicer with Americans with Disabilities Act improvements. Traffic signals, sidewalks, and pedestrian crossings were upgraded to meet modern ADA standards.
Following ADA improvements, state Highway 23 was resurfaced from just north of the junction of U.S. Highway 71 and Highway 23 ("the split") to Kandiyohi County Road 31 near New London, where the four-lane switches back to two-lane. The total project area was approximately 12 miles in length.
The project cost $2.2 million. Duininck Inc. was the contractor on the project.
