WILLMAR - The movie theater at the Kandi Mall in Willmar will close for several weeks while the operation changes hands.
The AMC Classic Kandi 6, run by AMC Theaters, will close Feb. 22, according to Kimberly Sanden, a coordinator with AMC's corporate communications office.
The new operator, Reel-Lux Cinemas, said in a statement Tuesday that it hopes to reopen in April and that it plans a large-scale remodeling project.
John Vornholt, Kandi Mall general manager, said some portion of the six screens are planned to reopen in April while the renovations are underway. There are no specific dates for the remodeling - to include new concessions and updated amenities for all six screens - but Vornholt said all the work is projected to be complete later in 2018.
According to its statement, Reel-Lux Cinemas features expanded food and beverages delivered to patrons in their seat and electric reclining seats in all auditoriums.
