WILLMAR - Mandi Lighthizer-Schmidt is now serving as the public affairs coordinator for the Minnesota Department of Transportation District 8, which encompasses 12 counties in west central and southwestern Minnesota.
“Mandi’s skills and experience in communications and public outreach will be critical in providing travelers information on road conditions and highway construction projects, as well as working with local businesses and residents on upcoming projects” states Jon Huseby, district engineer for MnDOT District 8.
Lighthizer-Schmidt graduated from the University of Minnesota Morris and has a master of science degree in public and nonprofit institutions.
Lighthizer-Schmidt replaces Judy Jacobs, who recently transferred to MNSCU.
Lighthizer-Schmidt will serve as the first point of contact for reporters and the public seeking transportation-related information.

Minnesota Crop Improvement Association on Jan. 12 presented the Achievement in Crop Improvement Award to Paul Kjolhaug, part owner of the MayerSeedLine company, located in Willmar. Kurt Flegel, of Benson, was named a Premier Seed Grower.
