WILLMAR — Caribou Coffee has announced Willmar will be one of five Minnesota cities to receive a Caribou Cabin sometime this year.

The Caribou Cabin is a new store concept from Caribou Coffee. It is a small-format coffee shop with a drive-thru and walk-up windows, but no indoor seating.

The new design focuses on guest conveniences, speed and efficiency, a news release from Caribou Coffee said.

While no opening date or location has been released, the new store should be open in the coming months, according to the release. Other Caribou Cabins will be opening in Jordan, Burnsville, St. Peter and Big Lake.

The new store will offer an expanded beverage menu, along with breakfast sandwiches and bakery items. The cabins will be the first location to offer Caribou's new line of beverages called Caribou Bou-sted, the release said.

"Caribou Coffee will continue to lean into the Northern roots that made our brand what it is today," Caribou President and CEO John Butcher said in the release. "We are confident that our new Cabin concept will differentiate us even more by delivering customers the highest-quality coffee, expanded beverage innovation and ownable guest interaction that only Caribou can deliver."

Caribou Coffee was founded in 1992 and has more than 300 company-owned locations nationwide. There are also 120 domestic license locations and over 270 international franchise stores in 11 countries.
