WILLMAR — Mike Kutzke has been named the new vice president of student success for Ridgewater College.
He will play a leadership role in improving student retention and completion, assessing and adjusting programs and delivery models and building strong relationships with faculty, staff and students.
Kutzke will begin his new role on Aug. 19. He is replacing Betty Strehlow, who is retiring after 35 with the college as vice president of academic and student affairs. Ridgewater has been restructuring its leadership positions during the last year, including new titles.
Kutzke has been the Ridgewater dean of instruction for the technical programs since 2014, and before that worked as the law enforcement program coordinator and instructor.
He earned his associate degree in law enforcement from what is now Ridgewater, a bachelor's in criminal justice from Minnesota State University and a master's in social sciences from North Dakota State University in Fargo. He has worked as a post-secondary adjunct teacher and in law enforcement.
