PRINSBURG -- Two teachers welcomed 65 students to a one-room schoolhouse when what was known as the Prinsburg Christian School opened its doors in September of 1911.

The school has evolved and expanded its reach ever since, and now offers pre-K through 12th grade instruction to just over 300 students as the Central Minnesota Christian Schools. A faculty of 26 full time instructors is part of a total school staff of 66 including cooks and school bus drivers.

Students attending the school come from a 40-mile radius of Prinsburg, said Superintendent Pete Van Der Puy. The students represent 35 different churches in the area and come from diverse ethnic and economic backgrounds, according to Tricia Nelson, chair of the school's capital campaign.
