LITCHFIELD — Teresa Carlson has passed the Special Enrollment Examination, making her Christianson CPAs & Consultants’ newest enrolled agent, according to a news release from the firm.
An enrolled agent is a tax adviser who is a federally authorized tax practitioner empowered by the U.S Department of the Treasury to represent taxpayers before the Internal Revenue Service.
Carlson joined Christianson CPAs & Consultants in 2005, specializing in accounting, auditing, payroll and financial statement preparation for business clients. She now leads Christianson’s accounting services department, and she also manages the Litchfield office.
Enrolled agent is the highest credential the Internal Revenue Service awards, based on passing a three-part comprehensive IRS test covering individual and business tax returns. Individuals who obtain this elite status must also adhere to ethical standards and complete 72 hours of continuing education courses every three years.
Christianson PLLP serves a regional and national client base in the accounting field from offices in Willmar, Litchfield and Paynesville.
