NEW LONDON - Viewers of WCCO-TV have named Mill Pond Mercantile as the best gift shop in Minnesota. The business is owned by Ginny Knapp and Anita Stulen.

They started in 1996 by taking over a former artists cooperative and built their present building in 2003.

The store carries a large variety of gifts including greeting cards, clothing, kitchenware, linens and has a children's section.

The runner-up was DeAnn's Country Village Shoppe in Litchfield.

Donna Middleton started working at the West Central Tribune in 1975 and has been the news assistant since 1992. She compiles the arts, health, farm and community page calendars, as well as rewrites and works on the special sections.
