WILLMAR — Carol Laumer of Willmar received Missouri River Energy Services Maurice A. Te Paske Public Official Award for her support of public power.
This award is named after a founding member of Missouri River Energy Services — a joint action agency that provides wholesale electricity to its members and other related services — and is given to policymakers who serve their member utility and promote public power beyond their local communities.
Laumer has served as a Willmar Municipal Utilities commissioner since 2012 and has held leadership roles of secretary and president and currently serves as vice president. She has served as chair of the labor committee and on the planning committee as well.
Laumer has also been active within the Minnesota Municipal Utilities Association , participating in the leadership academy and receiving that group's Public Service Award. She has also been involved on councils and committees within the American Public Power Association .
She also has served on the Willmar Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce board and is a past president of Willmar Downtown Development.
