During a recent tour, Willmar Municipal Utilities staff touted some of the recent investments it has made in its ability to transmit power for the region.
The transmission line is aimed at bolstering grid reliability as renewable energy replaces traditional coal-fired plants. It was one of 18 projects approved by the region's grid operator Monday.
A pilot project between Minnesota's second largest supplier of electricity, Great River Energy, and a Massachusetts start-up claims to have a breakthrough in battery technology that would allow for vast expansions of renewable energy on the power grid.
Letter writer says with the evidence in front of us, it is obvious what we must do: transition from fossil fuels to clean, renewable and equitable energy as quickly as possible. To do otherwise condemns our loved ones, neighbors, and future generations to a frightening and deadly future.
