WILLMAR LAKES AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

The Willmar Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce is holding an election information workshop for those interested in running for local elected office this year.
The annual leadership awards presentation by the Willmar Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce is slated for March 24. Sarah Swedburg, Steve Gardner and Jim Sieben are this year's recipients.
Beth Fischer, executive director of the Willmar Lakes Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, has been appointed to the board of the Minnesota Association of CVB, according to a news release from the organization.
Ryan Legrand, U.S. Grains President and CEO will be the special speaker at a Zoom in and luncheon put on by the Willmar Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce Agri-Business Committee at 12 p.m. Jan. 11 at the Willmar Conference Center.

For the 11th year, the Saturday after Thanksgiving is being promoted as Small Business Saturday, a day shoppers are urged to shop at small, independent and local retailers for that special gift. Small businesses from around the area are preparing for what they hope is both a positive shopping day and a return to some normalcy after the past 20 pandemic-marked months.
A car parade Wednesday to honor health care workers at their Willmar workplaces also featured music by the Willmar Senior High School pep band. The workers who stepped outside to enjoy the procession on a warm, sunny day were appreciative, saying it had been a long year coping with the COVID-19 pandemic.
The two finalists for the Willmar City Administrator position will be in town on Thursday for a day of meet and greets, interviews with staff and chamber members and the final interviews with the Willmar City Council. The council is planning on making its decision on which candidate will be the new administrator following the interviews.

We need our investors to continue their membership so the Chamber can continue to deliver the programs, services, and value that our community and local businesses have come to expect and need to rebuild a strong local and state economy.

There were nearly 40 individuals graduating Thursday from the Leadership Perspectives program at Bill Taunton Stadium in Willmar.

After the pandemic forced the postponement of spring events, the Willmar Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce has now planned an Aug. 6 luncheon at Bill Taunton Stadium in Willmar as a combined event recognizing excellence in the community. The graduates of the annual leadership class will be recognized; recipients of community leadership, volunteering and giving awards will be honored; and the annual meeting will be conducted as well. The public is invited, and tickets are available from the Chamber office through Monday.

SPICER — Shelly Munyon of Spicer has been named the new operations finance manager for the Willmar Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce, according to a news release from the chamber.
