The Out of the Darkness Community Walk drew a crowd Saturday morning at Robbins Island Regional Park in Willmar.

Every 15 minutes someone in the U.S. dies by suicide; every 16 minutes someone is left to make sense of it, according to statistics from the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.

Out of the Darkness Walks raise awareness and funds that allow the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention to invest in research, create education programs, advocate for public policy and suppose survivors of suicide loss. The walk circled Robbins Island and headed over to the Wings of Hope memorial near the Flags of Honor site along north Business 71 in Willmar, and back to Robbins Island.

The event included a silent auction, informational booths, a balloon release, memorials and more.
