WILLMAR - "Sacred Places in Kandiyohi County" by Gregory Harp is on exhibit through June 30 at the Historical Society on Business North 23/71, Willmar.
Here Harp talks about making his evocative photographs of interior worship spaces and of church buildings we often see from the road but have seldom paused to study.
His photographs, both color and black-and-white, are technically superb in composition and detail.
To achieve such results, he doesn't just show up and snap: "They are carefully thought out and planned well in advance," says Harp, who has taken pictures since early childhood.
Twenty-four churches are represented in the current exhibit. So far, he says, 53 churches have been photographed with "about 100 to go."
