DOAC Olympics: July 24, 1:30 to 6 p.m. Come play “Olympic” games including pool noodle hurdles, splash basketball, curling, relay events, cornhole and swimming challenges at the Dorothy Olson Aquatic Center.

Stingers Splash: July 30, 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Swim with 2021 Willmar Stingers players at the Dorothy Olson Aquatic Center. Cannon ball contest, tug of war, relay races and more.

Movies in the parking lot: Willmar Parks and Recreation presents the free movie “Soul” at 8 p.m. Aug. 20 in the Willmar Civic Center parking lot.

YMCA bus trip

Twins-White Sox game, Minneapolis: Aug. 11, 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Target Field in Minneapolis, a kickoff event for the Happy Together Program that seeks to engage people 55 and older in activities and events. Cost is $5 to reserve game ticket and bus seat. Advance registration required by 5 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 4. Willmar Level 1 RPG, The Press Heist: Aug. 7, 2 to 6 p.m. free, advance registration required, call 320-262-5288 . Dread is a great beginner role-playing game of risk and hope with the goal to carefully choose what risks your character takes on their adventure. You will take on the role of someone trapped in a story that is only as compelling as it is hostile — someone who will find themselves making decisions we hope never to face in real life. It uses Jenga instead of dice, pull from the tower and you succeed. Refuse to pull and you fail. The choice is yours.

Yahoo for Yahtzee: Every Monday, 12:30 p.m.

Hand & Foot Cards: Every Tuesday and Thursday, 12:30 p.m., free, popular variation of canasta, easy to learn.

Farkle Fridays: Every Friday, 1 to 4 p.m. A classic dice game to try and reach 10,000 points first. Each player will have their own cup and dice.

Community puzzle exchange: Daily, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., drop off, pick up, or swap out a puzzle in our exchange program.

Woodshop: Open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays, 6 to 9 p.m. Monday evenings. Advance registration required by calling 320-262-5288 . Cost is $5 for a daily pass, $25 for a three-month membership, and $60 yearly.

Willmar Public Library

WILLMAR — The Willmar Library is open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Full services are available except the meeting room. The website is . Call 320-235-3162 . Curbside pickup remains available during regular hours. Face masks strongly encouraged for those not fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Programs will either be online or with limited participants and social distancing. The WiFi can be accessed 24/7 from a parked car in the lot behind the library or in front of the building using your library card or through Overdrive.

Summer reading: The summer reading program runs June 1 through Aug. 31.

Book Spine Poetry Contest: July 1-31. Use book spines to create a poem. Stack up books at the library or use books from home. All ages. Register online.

Fantasy Land Directional Signs: July 1–30. Sign up online for a fantasy land (Narnia, Wonderland, etc.) and paint a directional sign. Return to the library by July 30. The signs will be displayed in the library for all to see.

Children’s storytime in the park: 11 a.m. every Tuesday at Jaycees Park and Bria’s Playground, corner of Ella Avenue and Seventh Street Northwest.

Interactive movie kit: The interactive movie kits include a script along with props for up to six participants. Limit of one per week per household. Register on the library website.

Book Box: Register for a book box on the library website, check out a copy of the book, open the items as you reach specific chapters in the book, all ages.

Teen lit loot: Sign up and you will receive a library book based on your interests and a bag of goodies to go with it. One per month and will need to re-register each month.

Teen take & make crafts: July 19 opened for tassel wall hanging. For ages 12-19. Limit one per person as supplies are limited. Sign up on the library website.

Adult make-and-take: Various crafts will be posted on the website as they are available, usually around the first and 15th of the month. Use the form on the website to reserve supplies to make your very own featured project. Once you have registered, library staff will call you or email you when it is ready to be picked up. Ages 18 and over. July 15 is macrame feather on driftwood by Art’deavors by Grace.

Adult Book Club: July 21, noon, “The Life We Bury” by Allen Eskens. Book discussion upstairs at the library or by Zoom. Fill out the form on the website to receive further info on how to sign in to the Zoom meeting. Meets every third Wednesday.

Adult trivia: July 22, 7 p.m., play live trivia solo or assemble a team, via a Facebook group, ages 18 and over.
