Veterans Day

The following Veterans Day events were submitted to the Tribune.

United States Military Historical Collection: The 23rd annual Veterans Day observance will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Nov. 11-13 at the War Memorial Auditorium, Willmar. More than 7,000 military items will be on display, and a program is set for 7:30 p.m. Nov. 11.

Raymond: All veterans and their spouses are invited to the potluck Veterans Day supper at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 13, at the Raymond Community Center. It is sponsored by the Raymond American Legion Auxiliary. Tim Kolhei from Montevideo will speak about the new State Veterans Home that will be built in Montevideo. Bring a dish to share. Beverages and utensils will be provided.

Youth and Family

Holidaze 2021: Nov. 20, 6:30 p.m., annual lighted parade in downtown Willmar. Beginning at 4 p.m., meet Santa and Mrs. Claus at the Barn Theatre, “touch-a-truck” on Fourth Street Southwest, bags tournament, turkey bowling, free hot chocolate, holiday movie “The Grinch” at 7 p.m. at the Barn Theatre.

Holiday season

The holiday season brings many special festivities. From family gatherings to school concerts, community celebrations to church programs, there are many events in which people may choose to participate. Willmar Community Center

Willmar Area Senior Citizens Club: Nov. 10, 2 p.m., freewill donation, entertainment by John "A Frame" Beck.

Friday afternoon of dancing: Nov. 12, 1 p.m., $2 non-dancers, $7 dancers; light lunch served; music by Leroy & Joe.

Veterans coffee social: Nov. 15, 9:30 to 11 a.m., open to all veterans, police, fire and emergency medical services members.

Square dance lessons: Thursdays, 6:30 p.m., practice and learn the varieties of square dances. All ages and skills welcome.

Gratitude tree and origami kit/class: Help decorate our gratitude tree at the Community Center with fall leaves the month of November. Learn some fun origami to share with your friends and family this Thanksgiving season. Origami classes 3 to 4 p.m. Nov. 17 or 4 to 5 p.m. Nov. 23. Place order for origami kits in advance for $2 per kit. Tree decorating is free.

Bahn mi sandwich: Nov. 13, 2 p.m. Cooking with Riley to make this Vietnamese street food classic sandwich. Advance registration required by Nov. 10. Cost is $20.

Nickelodeon All-Stars Brawl Tournament: Nov. 14, 5:30 p.m. Face off with a power-packed cast of heroes from the top shows within the Nickelodeon universe. Advance registration required. Cost is $2.


Holiday Toy Drive: Nov. 15-Dec. 18, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays. Drop off new, unwrapped gifts at the big box under the canopy. Toys For Tots will go to youth in Kandiyohi County.

Friends-giving p ie social: Nov. 16, 2 p.m., $3 a slice. Enjoy a slice of your favorite pie. Cards and board games will be available. To-go slices available.

Willmar Level 1 RPG, The Redwick Village Mystery: Nov. 20, 2 p.m. free. Advance registration requested; call 320-262-5288 . Using the D &D System, players will be tasked to investigate the tragic murder at the Redwick Village.

Jolly Twirlers Square Dance: Nov. 20, 7 p.m. All are welcome to join in this square dancing evening.

All things board games: Nov. 21, 2 p.m., all ages. Come play some new, some classic games. Advance registration required; call the community center.

Clay ornament making: Dec. 1, 12:30 p.m., to mold ornament, and Dec. 10, 10 a.m. to paint and decorate it. Cost is $10 for one, $2 for additional ornament. Advance registration required by calling 320-262-5288 .

Aging Wisely: Dec. 2, 1:30 p.m., advance registration required.

Curbside crafts: These kits are great activities to do with all ages and skill sets. Kits will be available to pick up on Thursdays in December, with different kits each week. Be sure to reserve your craft kits by calling 320-262-5288 . Supplies will be limited. Cost is $12 for all four kits or $5 per kit.

Card playing: 12:30 to 4 p.m., bridge on Monday, hand & foot on Tuesday and Thursday, whist on Wednesday and Friday.

Farkle Fridays: Friday, 1 to 4 p.m. A classic dice game to try and reach 10,000 points first.

Community puzzle exchange: Daily, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., drop off, pick up, or swap out a puzzle in our exchange program.

Woodshop: Open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays, 6 to 9 p.m. Monday evenings. Advance registration required by calling 320-262-5288 . Cost is $5 for a daily pass, $25 for a three-month membership, and $60 yearly.

Willmar Public Library

WILLMAR — The Willmar Library is open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Full services are available. The website is . Brainfuse HelpNow: Free online tutoring service for grades K-12. One-to-one live homework help from online tutors between 2 and 11 p.m. daily, English or Spanish. Help with math, science, English/language arts, social studies and reading assistance. App available for mobile.

Interactive movie kit: The interactive movie kits include a script along with props for up to six participants. Limit of one per week per household. Reserve on the library website. New titles each month.

Book Box: Register for a book box on the library website, check out a copy of the book, open the items as you reach specific chapters in the book, all ages.

Teen lit loot: Sign up and you will receive a library book based on your interests and a bag of goodies to go with it. One per month and will need to re-register each month. November's theme is puzzles.

Teen Take & Make Crafts: Nov. 1 opened for fall garland, Nov. 15 opens for turkey treat holder. For ages 12-18. Limit one per person as supplies limited. Sign up on the library website.

Preschoolers storytime: Every Tuesday, 10 a.m., ages 3-6, no registration required.

Little People storytime: Every Wednesday, 10 a.m., ages 0-3, no registration required.

Bounce Back Project Book Club: Nov. 23, 6:30 p.m., upstairs at the library. Bounce Back Project is focused on promoting health through happiness, and so are we. Join this new book club as we discuss “The Book of Hope” by Jane Goodall. No registration required.
