WILLMAR — The League of Women Voters annual book sale began Thursday and continues from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1, and from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Nov. 2, at the Willmar Community Center.
Brew Ha Ha 5.0
WILLMAR — The United Way of West Central Minnesota and Empower: Women United present Brew Ha Ha 5.0 at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1, at the Barn Theatre to benefit the Imagination Library program. WILLMAR — The Ridgewater College Veterinary Technology program will have a dog wash and microchipping from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, at the Vet Tech Department in Willmar. Dog wash prices are $10 for dogs 20 pounds or less, $13 for medium dogs 21 to 49 pounds, and $15 for large dogs 50 pounds and over. The wash includes minimal grooming and brush out. Other services include microchipping for $35; nail trim, anal gland expression and ear cleaning are $7 each, mat removal is a minimum of $7 and a pet tag is $5. Haiti Literacy Program
PRINSBURG — Dad’s Belgian Waffles will be served from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Nov. 2, at Central Minnesota Christian School in Prinsburg. The proceeds will go to the Haiti Literacy Program that helps adults learn basic reading and writing. Freewill donation. Haitian coffee, apple pies and apple treats for sale.
Rice Health Foundation Gala
WILLMAR — The Rice Health Foundation will host its annual gala Nov. 8 at the Willmar Conference Center. A social hour and silent auction begin at 6 p.m., followed at 7 p.m. by dinner, dessert and a live auction. The gala theme this year is "Set Sail."
The gala is the main fundraiser each year for the Rice Health Foundation, supporting programs and services at Carris Health Rice Memorial Hospital. Funds from this year's gala are earmarked for the expansion of cardiac care, with a goal of increasing access for providers, procedures and equipment close to home.
The plan for Carris Health is to relocate the cardiology clinic to the Rice Hospital campus, expand cardiology services from three to five days a week with CentraCare cardiologists and advanced practitioners, and offer cardiology appointments, followup care, on-site cardiology consultations and some additional diagnostic procedures locally.

LAKE LILLIAN — Lake Lillian Civic and Commerce will have turkey bingo at 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, at the Community Center. Cost is $20 for entire evening. All proceeds will be donated to the Kandiyohi County and Renville County food shelves.
BENSON — The Benson Lions will serve a brunch from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 10, at Hanny’s Bar and Grill (formerly VFW Club). Scrambled eggs, waffles, sausage, potato rounds and beverages. Freewill donation.
SPICER — The Spicer American Legion Auxiliary will have a poultry bingo from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, at the Legion in Spicer. Turkeys, hams and special prizes for children.
WILLMAR — E-quip Africa in Willmar is accepting newer, smaller computers such as laptops and slim or compact desktops which are easier to ship. All computers need their original power supplies, cords, keyboards and mice and be in good working condition. They need to be Windows machines running Windows 7, 8.1 or 10. Habitat for Humanity
WILLMAR — Habitat for Humanity of West Central Minnesota ReStore is accepting donations of building materials, large appliances, furniture and more. All donations must be approved by staff before acceptance. Donations can be brought to 2424 First Street South in Willmar between 11 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Saturday.
