WILLMAR — Holidaze will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, in downtown Willmar. There will be outdoor activities for the whole family with the lighted parade starting at 6:30 p.m.

Sweet December

WILLMAR — Sweet December, a traditional Karen celebration on the last night in November, will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 30, at Grace Baptist Church, north of Willmar. The celebration ushers in the season of Christmas and welcomes a month of reflection and celebration. There will be food, songs and words of wisdom, and fellowship. Everyone welcome, regardless of religious affiliation.

Willmar Public Library

WILLMAR — The Willmar Public Library has the following events scheduled for the coming weeks. For more information, call the library at 320-235-3162. All are free, register in advance at the checkout desk or by phone if required. Some registrations available online at www.willmarpubliclibrary.org.

Study Center: 5 to 7 p.m., Monday and Thursday. Meet in the conference room to receive basic homework help from one of the volunteer tutors.

Little People Storytime: Nov. 14, 10 a.m., for parents and children infant to age 8. Designed with toddlers in mind, class might be called “kids on the move, books in the background.” There will be music, fingerplays and stories. There is no fee, but you must call Community Education at 320-231-8490 to register. Additional dates are Nov. 21, Dec. 5 and Dec. 12.

NaNoWriMo: Nov. 14, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Every November during National Novel Writing Month, budding authors promise to write 50,000 words in 30 days. This is the second of three "Come Write In" events held in the multipurpose room. An additional day will be Nov. 26.

Movie matinee: Nov. 15, 2 p.m., featured movie will be rated PG-13. No cost or reservation.

Teen Book Club: Nov. 15, 4 to 5 p.m. ages 13 and older. Meet at the library and discuss this month’s book, “Harley Quinn: Breaking Glass” by Mariko Tamaki.

Teen Capture the Flag: Nov. 16, 4 to 6 p.m. Play Glow in the Dark Capture the Flag in the library after dark. Advance registration and signed permission form required.

Teen bad movie: Nov. 19, 4 p.m. Join us for movies that are so bad, they’re good.

Lunch Bunch Book Club: Nov. 20, noon. November’s book is “Becoming” by Michelle Obama. Club meets at Cornerstone Coffee in the Skylark Center in Willmar. Everyone is welcome.

Board game afternoons: Nov. 20, 4 to 5 p.m. for grades kindergarten through sixth grade. Come play traditional board games, enjoy refreshments, and feel free to bring your own board games.

Teen hangout: Nov. 20, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Come to the library for a place to just hang out and do whatever. We’ve got video games, arts and crafts, board and card games.

Crafts and Coloring: Nov. 27, 2 to 4 p.m. Bring any crafts you are working on and enjoy time with like-minded individuals. Don’t have a craft to work on? Use the provided supplies for coloring, iris paper folding, extreme dot to dot, or paint by sticker. Everyone is welcome.

Teen movie: Nov. 27, 5:30 p.m.

Children’s interactive movie: Nov. 29, 3:30 p.m., a children’s interactive movie for the entire family.

Prairie Woods ELC

SPICER — The Prairie Woods Environmental Learning Center welcomes mountain bikers and hikers on the grounds during daylight hours at no cost. The Kandi Trail Riders Club has completed 4.5 miles of mountain bike trail. Pets should be on a leash. Call 320-354-5894 for more information or see www.prairiewoodselc.org.

Sibley State Park

NEW LONDON — The Interpretive Center hours vary. A vehicle permit is required to enter the park and they are available at the park office. For more information, call 320-354-2002. Sibley State Park is west of New London just off U.S. Highway 71.
