Halloween events

Willmar Haunted House: Oct. 29-31, 7 to 10 p.m., 800 Campbell Ave. N.W., Willmar. Admission charged. The theme of the house is “Where Madness Dwells, Generations of Torment.”

Glenwood Haunted House: Oct. 29-31, 7 to 10 p.m., 105 3rd Ave. N.E., Glenwood. Admission is $20, Fright Night is back with the ghouls that haunt the labyrinth of the old high school.

Holmstrom Haunt: Oct. 29-31, New London Little Theatre, Ahh-MAZEing Haunted House. “Super Scare hours” are 7 to 9 p.m. Oct. 29 and noon to 9 p.m. Oct. 30. “Low scare day for the littles” is from 2 to 5 p.m. Oct. 31. Adult admission is $10, under 12 admitted for $5.

Teen Halloween: Oct. 29, 5 to 8 p.m., Willmar Public Library. Try the escape room and other fun and spooky games. For ages 12-18 only, no registration required.

Halloween Fun: Oct. 30, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Cash Wise in Willmar. Kids 12 and under can trick or treat throughout the store, play guessing games and enjoy a hot dog, pop and chips for $1 while supplies last.

Trunk-N-Treat with costume contest: Oct. 30, 2 to 5 p.m., downtown Granite Falls. Three categories in costume contest plus best of show for trunk.

Trunk & Treat: Oct. 30, 4 to 6 p.m., Redeemer Lutheran Church and Preschool, Willmar

Drive-Thru & Treat: Oct. 31, 2 to 4 p.m., Willmar Community Center. Trick-or-treat in this drive-thru event. Costumes encouraged, all ages welcome and candy for all.

Trunk & Treat: Oct. 31, 5 to 6:30 p.m., First Presbyterian Church, Willmar. Bring a non-perishable food item for the Blessings box if you are able.

Veterans Day

United States Military Historical Collection: The 23rd annual Veterans Day observance will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Nov. 11-13 at the War Memorial Auditorium, Willmar.

Raymond: All veterans and their spouses are invited to the potluck Veterans Day supper at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 13, at the Raymond Community Center. It is sponsored by the Raymond American Legion Auxiliary. Tim Kolhei from Montevideo will speak about the new State Veterans Home that will be built in Montevideo. Bring a dish to share. Beverages and utensils will be provided.

Willmar Community Center

WILLMAR — The Willmar Community Center is open 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays. The patio area is set up, and all are welcome to enjoy at any time of the day. Square dance lessons: Thursdays, 6:30 p.m., starting Nov. 4. Practice and learn the varieties of square dances. All ages and skills welcome.

Gratitude tree and origami kit/class: Help decorate our gratitude tree at the Community Center with fall leaves the month of November. Learn some fun origami to share with your friends and family this Thanksgiving season. Origami classes 3 to 4 p.m. Nov. 17 or 4-5 p.m. Nov. 23. Place order for origami kits in advance for $2 per kit. Tree decorating is free.

Bahn mi sandwich: Nov. 13, 2 p.m. Cooking with Riley to make this Vietnamese street food classic sandwich. Advance registration required by Nov. 10. Cost is $20.

Nickelodeon All-Stars Brawl Tournament: Nov. 14, 5:30 p.m. Face off with a power-packed cast of heroes from the top shows within the Nickelodeon universe. Advance registration required. Cost is $2.

Friends-giving pie social: Nov. 16, 2 p.m., $3 a slice. Enjoy a slice of your favorite pie. Cards and board games will be available. To-go slices available.

Willmar Public Library

WILLMAR — The Willmar Library is open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Full services are available. The WiFi can be accessed 24/7 from a parked car in the lot behind the library or in front of the building using your library card or through Overdrive.

Brainfuse HelpNow: Free online tutoring service for grades K-12. One-to-one live homework help from online tutors between 2 and 11 p.m. daily, English or Spanish. Help with math, science, English/language arts, social studies and reading assistance. App available for mobile.

Pet Costume Contest: Online contest. Voting open for pets in their best Halloween costume. Winner will be announced Nov. 1.

Interactive movie kit: The interactive movie kits include a script along with props for up to six participants. Limit of one per week per household. Reserve on the library website. New titles each month.

Book Box: Register for a book box on the library website, check out a copy of the book, open the items as you reach specific chapters in the book, all ages.

Teen lit loot: Sign up and you will receive a library book based on your interests and a bag of goodies to go with it. One per month and will need to re-register each month.

Preschoolers storytime: Every Tuesday, 10 a.m. ages 3-6; stories, songs, rhymes, and lots of fun; no registration required.

Little people storytime: Every Wednesday, 10 a.m., ages 0-3; stories, songs, and playtime for littles; no registration required.

Teen Take & Make Crafts: October crafts are tiny spooky planter, gilded insect faux taxidermy and mini tin books. For ages 12-18. Limit one per person as supplies limited. Sign up on the library website.

Adult make-and-take: Oct. 18 opened for book-page, button-flowers craft. Fill out the form on the website or call the library to reserve supplies. Once you have registered, library staff will call you or email you when it is ready to be picked up. Ages 18 and over.

Crafts & Coloring: Oct. 27, 2 p.m., upstairs at the library. Bring any crafts or coloring you are working on or use the provided supplies for coloring and more. Free, no registration required.
