Shoe Away Hunger
WILLMAR — The Kandiyohi County Food Shelf is having a “Shoe Away Hunger” community shoe sale from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 12, at the Plaza One (Panda Garden) parking lot on First Street in Willmar. A bus and a trailer full of shoes will be coming from the Twin Cities with gently used and new shoes for children and adults. Children's shoes will be $2 for gently used and $5 for new; adult shoes $5 and $10 for the same, respectively. Cash, credit and debit cards will be accepted.

Toys for Tots
WILLMAR — The eighth annual disc golf tournament to raise funds for Toys for Tots will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 7, at Robbins Island Disc Golf Course in Willmar. Willmar Kiwanis
WILLMAR — The Willmar Kiwanis is seeking nominations for the Kiwanis Touch-A-Life award. Since 1978, the club has recognized a citizen of Kandiyohi County who has an outstanding record of volunteering service to the community.

Typically, the award winner has provided ongoing volunteer service to the community, his or her church, the school system, local government or other organizations or programs. The first awardee was Bev Rosenbaum and the most recent three were Carol Myers, Dennis Benson and Earl Knutson.

PWELC Prairie Stars
SPICER — The annual "Music Under the Prairie Stars" benefit will begin at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 10, at Prairie Woods Environmental Learning Center in rural Spicer. Litchfield Opera House
LITCHFIELD — A soup or chili feed fundraiser will be served from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Sept. 11 at the Litchfield Opera House. The band Group Decision will perform from 7 to 9 p.m. The 10-piece professional band plays music from the 1940s to today, swing, big band, rock, blues and Latin.
Habitat for Humanity
WILLMAR — Habitat for Humanity of West Central Minnesota ReStore accepts donations of building materials, large appliances, furniture and more. All donations must be approved by staff before acceptance. Donations can be brought to 2424 First Street South in Willmar between 11 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Saturday.
