Walk, Run & Wag 5K: July 20, 6 p.m., Lions Park and Willmar Dog Park, Willmar. Check-in and registration at 5:30 p.m., walk at 6 p.m. The Willmar Noon Lions Club host the third annual family-friendly fundraiser for all ages and their canine companions. Choose to walk, run or wag for 3.24 miles or do a shorter alternative route. Ages 18 and older for $20, immediate family max of $40. Lloyd Hovey/AAHFS: The Atwater Area Help for Seniors program annual four-person scramble in memory of Lloyd Hovey will be July 16 at Island Pine Golf Course in Atwater. St. John’s Roadrunners
WILLMAR — The St. Johns Roadrunners 4-H Club will be operating the Cash Wise brat stand in Willmar from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, July 22. The funds raised will be used to support Community Pride activities including the seven Little Free Libraries the club stewards weekly in the Willmar community.

Alvin Wieber
DAWSON — A barbecue meal benefit for Alvin Wieber will begin at 4 p.m. Saturday, July 23, at Lac qui Parle County Park, 2299 337th Avenue, northeast of Dawson. Wieber has been diagnosed with aggressive stage four B-cell lymphoma cancer. There will be live music, a silent auction, and freewill donation for the meal. Bring your own lawn chairs.
Kandiyohi County Food Shelf
WILLMAR — The Kandiyohi County Food Shelf helps people living in Kandiyohi County that are in need of food assistance. They are located at 624 Pacific Ave. SW in Willmar.
Curbside pickup: Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, 8 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.; Friday, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Stop by the stop sign at the front door and call 320-235-2641 .
In-person pickup: Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Friday, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Park across the street or in the parking lot and bring your own bags/boxes.
NAPS distribution: Fourth Tuesday of each month, 1 to 2 p.m., Nutrition Assistance Program for Seniors for individuals 60 years of age and older that qualify by income with Second Harvest Heartland. Call 800-365-0270 to sign up.
Grant opportunity: Open Your Heart to the Hungry and Homeless announces the annual Food Shelf Challenge Grant. The nonprofit will proportionally match cash donations to Kandiyohi County Food Shelf during the month of July.
